We spend 4 glorious days and nights at Sol Bungalows. Staying in an over-water bungalow was on our bucket list, and Sol Bungalows lived up to all of our hopes. …
December 16, 2024Before you go, read this!... never mind just book the trip, you will not be disappointed! Seriously, it is fantastic! Ok, so we went in late November and I believe that... read more is their rainy season. We were expecting to go and just have a quiet time in a bungalow reading while being situated directly over the water. How wrong we were! First of all, i cant say enough about the place, the owners (Drew and Tamara), the amazing staff (Kiki was fantastic), and the heavenly food! When we first got there, Drew greeted us right on the dock as we were boating in the 10 mins from town. He and Tamara were a wealth of information on the islands, attractions, food, activities, and they were very accommodating for anything we needed. Hats off to those two because they created a blissful experience that might be impossible to match! The food: we ate while we were there, was specifically curated by Tamara and cooked to perfection by their amazing staff and they used, what had to be like 95% of the ingredients that they cultivated from their farm or near by farms! Their breakfasts were to die for and their chimichurri sauce is something i have dreams about! They make everything from Rissoto, to chicken dishes to great fish dishes (so im told, i dont really east fish). Not only is their food just lip smacking good, but they are also fantastic amount accommodating for dietary restrictions! My wife is gluten free and vegetarian and we had no problem eating in their restaurant almost every night! The Stay: The bungalow was perfection! It really was! Its has a nice little living room and bedroom that both look over the bay but if you are anything like us, you wont spend much time in there. Since the bungalow is over the water, you can walk out of each and basically just jump in the water (carful though, i think the water there is about 5 feet deep or so). They have a snorkeling trail right outside of the rooms where you care take advantage of the amazing clarity of the water. The bedroom also has a nice like floor window that you can look down into the water! The only caveat is that the town across the bay gets loud at night with music and you can fairly easily hear the music since it travels well over water but ear plugs help substantially! The Activities: So we did a few things while we were there, we went to red frog beach one of the first days. Again, if you just text (whatsapp) the water taxis, they will take you anywhere. I think it was about $10 per person to get to the beach. At red frog, they drop you off at the other side of the island and you walk through the forest where you can spot various wild life! The beach has a restaurant and bar there if you want to just sit and relax. Be careful though, the rip tide is strong. We then went to Polo beach, which is a little bit of a walk but you basically walk down the beach, right on the road, then left and stay on that road until you see a sign on a tree that says polo beach. Look the beach up, its worth it and we saw our first sloth on the way there too! Then one of our last days, we went back into town rented some Ebikes (PS dont lose the key! Wife did that and it was a situation!) we biked to BOM BOM beach up the coast. Its a little bit of a ride but again, worth it! BOM BOM has an amazing beach that is apparently great for surfing. From there, we biked a little further (until we couldnt any more) and walked the rest of the way to La Pacina Beach. Now, this beach was nice and all, i loved it, but the best part for me was the walk! We saw more sloths, two difference types of monkeys, and just a lot of different wild life! It was amazing! I honestly dont know what else to say about this adventure! Its well with it! The TLDR of it is, amazing location, GREAT people, somehow even better food, and the accommodations were just things you have to see to believe! Go here now… dont wait!

November 30, 2024Staying at Sol Bungalows was true paradise!!!! The bungalows are so cute and the perfect amount of space for two people. …
November 30, 2024Loved our time at Sol. Drew, Kiki, & all of the staff could not have been kinder or more competent. Their attention to detail is unmatched & they thought of... read more everything. The bungalows are pristine, stylish, spacious, & so comfortable. I loved the variety of outdoor lounging options…hammock, Adirondack chairs, loungers, & an over the water mesh hammock. We travel internationally often & rarely eat at our hotel, but the food was so delicious (& affordable) here that we ate every dinner at Sol. The provided snorkeling gear, kayaks, & paddle boards was very convenient. Don’t miss using one of the toys to paddle to Hospital point…it felt like paddle boarding in an aquarium. This was the most relaxing vacation & I highly recommend it. Thank you to Drew, Kiki, & everyone else who helped us have the perfect stay. Thanks also for the yummy birthday cake!

We had a fantastic time at Sol Bungalows. The highlights are the food, the service, and the rooms. First, the food was incredible. Breakfast is amazing. You order from... read more a menu in the morning, and they prepare it fresh for you when you would like it. There are choices for just about any tastes. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich made with their local coconut bread - make sure you put the chimichurri on it 🙂 Breakfast also includes local juice and fruit. It's a great way to start the day. Also, take advantage of the dinner served on site. It's an extra cost, but it's well worth it. Meals were 3 courses. Everything was delicious with lots of ingredients that came from their on-property garden. They also had unique flavors that we don't typically find at home. Next, the service was top notch. The whole staff was excellent. Everyone was kind and willing to help in any way, and with only 4 bungalows on site, everything is easy to find. Kiki provided great service and was friendly and helpful during our trip. The owner, Drew, was very involved with all of the meals. He also helped answer any questions we had and provided a lot of local insights and recommendations. He was also kind enough to help with transportation both in Bocas (the water taxis are cheap, quick, and easy to find, and Drew has recommended drivers) and on our way out to Boquete. It was helpful that he grew up in the States, so he understood possible stumbling blocks for us as Americans. Finally, there were thoughtful touches at every corner - for example, while breakfast is served in the restaurant in the mornings, they offer a coffee service direct to your bungalow while you wake up. The service is honestly better than what I'd expect at a five-star resort, and the personal touches are all very genuine. Finally, the rooms (and really the resort as a whole) were comfortable and well thought out. They provided everything you might possibly need, and it makes it so easy for you to simply relax. They have shampoo/conditioner/soap in the rooms, the water is drinkable and they have bottles in the room for you (in a small fridge), they have snorkel masks in each room, and paddle boards and kayaks to use whenever you'd like (along with helpful directions on where to go). Also, the rooms are thoughtfully designed and furnished - plenty of usable space, hooks for wet clothes, etc. I was impressed with how the room was laid out in a way that you never felt like anything was lacking. We stayed in Maracuya, which was one of the new units on the end. We felt like we had plenty of privacy. The outdoor area had everything we could have wanted - a hammock, an outdoor shower, adirondack chairs, and a ladder straight into the water. The only negatives are the bugs and noise. The bugs are legit. We did not take them seriously when they mentioned bugs at dawn/dusk, and we are paying the price. After the first day, we used the spray they provided, but I think we would've been better off staying inside during those times of day. There is some boat noise in the mornings, but the only noise that bothered us was the music from Bocas town at night. It goes until late into the evening (we heard it until 3:30 AM). They provide a noise machine and ear plugs, but those didn't completely solve the problem. Ultimately, neither of those things would stop us from returning, but they're worth mentioning in case someone is particularly sensitive . All in all, it was an amazing place to stay, and we would love to return. We have the best memories from our time at Sol Bungalows, and we are so thankful to Drew and the staff for taking such good care of us while we were there!
November 30, 2024Amazing experience! Owners were fantastic! Massages over the glass floors while you watch the fish swim by, food was phenomenal, the bungalows were amazing. We really enjoyed our time here!... read more Thank you!
